Walking around my neighbourhood, le Plateau, is always fun and exciting because, every time you walk out, there is something new to be discovered. The other day, we noticed a huge new mural being painted. Titled "Lines and colours", it can now be seen on the side of the building on the corner of Duluth and St Denis. This beautiful piece is the result of a collaboration between artist Philippe Mastrocola, Georges Laoun, optician (and the building owner), and MU.
MU is a non-profit organization with a mission to support the artistic and social development by promoting local artists and their art all the while involving the local community. In French the word «Mue» means rejuvenation through the shedding of an old skin. Similarly, the goal of the organization is to embellish and bring new life to the faded, neglected and graffitied walls of the city, thus triggering social change and turning the city into an open-air gallery. For more information please check out their website.
P.S. The last photo was taken in front of my son's favourite mural because it features various sea monsters (obviously;-)
